during the spring senior's have the opportunity to do a senior spring term project. in order to do this they must go through an application process that includes several steps. One of these steps is getting this idea passed by a group of faculty members. many students love this opportunity to pursue something that they are interested in and do not have enough time to work with in school. we interviewed greg rooney '11 to talk about his project.
grill: what is your senior spring term project this spring?
greg: we work the &*)(()&%& boat shop (name is confidential) in amesbury.
grill: whose we?
greg: mike george and i.
grill: what do you do?
greg: we're fixing a boat which we have no idea how to do and we're also building a "deck-dock"
grill: why did you decide to do this?
greg: i wanted to learn something different and it seemed interesting.
grill: is it difficult manual labor?
greg: the boat is tedious and time consuming and it gets wicked annoying. i got my shoes wet today. mike never lets me order what i want when we stop for fast food.
grill: what do you think you will gain from this experience?
greg: a new hobby maybe...possibly. i saw a dead seal today.
grill: oh no. what happened with the seal?
greg: the guy picked up the seal and brought it inside to dry. i think he's gonna use its skin for seal seat covers on the boats. he thought it was a log. i think that's probably illegal...don't let this get out...dont let this out...seriously...dont tell anyone this...seriously.
grill: thanks greg. good luck with everything!
