jade adams: bassist for "the morning meeting band"

Jade Adams '11

interview

the grill: when did you first get involved with music at governors?

jade: 10th grade, i joined jazz band

g: what instrument do you play and when did you start?

j: i play the bass guitar and i started playing sophomore year.

g: whats your favorite part about being involved with music here?

j: the background of it all. for example, working with a group of musicians and creating chemistry with them, working towards a goal and then finally performing with them.

g: how did you get involved with the morning meeting band?

j: iv'e always worked closely with jeremy and riche. junior year we used to improvise together a lot but now its a lot harder to do during the week 'cause we have really busy schedules. it's a bummer. since jeremy is the head of the band he sets everything up. he is always open for suggestions but we usually don't prepare much. we would rather just improv. on stage.

g: what made you want to play bass?

j: i always really like the bass in songs but i decided to actually pick it up because my good friend cristina (schwertschlag) played acoustic guitar and i
wanted to be able to jam with her. it sounds really awesome.

GO GREEN

the annual green cup challenge between the isl schools is just around the corner and gov's is getting into the spirit! there is a list of ways to go green on every table in the dining hall and announcements are made during morning meeting to pump everyone up. pretty soon the dorms will be living in the dark and we can't wait. here are some fun facts to show just how easy it is to go green:

1. don't put the thermostat higher than 69 degrees
2. use florescent light bulbs
3. unplug your cell phone chargers and computer chargers when they are not being used
4. wash clothes in cold water and try not to use the dryer
5. shorter showers
6. don't use bottled water!  use a Britta or a water purifier and try using bottles like Nalgene or SIGGS
7. TURN OFF YOUR LIGHTS!
8. RECYCLE!

statistics

1. over 70% of electricity in the U.S. is generated from non-renewable sources
2. about 30% of the energy used in commercial and industrial buildings is used inefficiently or unnecessarily.
3. more than 25% of energy consumption in homes goes to lighting

go green and save the planet!
